While the collar microphone offers greater wearing comfort, it is only recommended for applications with limited head movements. The handheld pencil microphone is suitable for interactive applications and for people whose physical condition otherwise prevents them from wearing the headset or collar microphone.

Originally designed to elevate vocal output of people with temporary or permanent voice impairments as result of Parkinson's Disease, the standard ChatterVox personal voice amplification system can boost vocal output by as much as 15 dB using the lightweight headset style microphone. Even greater boost can be achieved for esophageal speakers and users of complimentary prosthetic devices by employing the ChatterVox "transdermal" neck microphone. The unique ChatterVox "fanny-pack design" amplifier weighs only 1lb. 2oz. A simple volume control with ChatterVox personal PA systems amplifier, model 100 built-in On/Off switch and Power On LED indicator constitutes the only user control. ChatterVox portable PA systems are provided with environmentally friendly, high capacity Nickel Metal-Hydrate rechargeable power systems that can operate up to14 hours of continuous use and be recharged overnight. ChatterVox can also operate on six (6) regular AA size Alkaline batteries. The ChatterVox is supplied standard with black leatherette "fanny-pack" cover.
